Making a point

The shoe designer Nicholas Kirkwood has been trying new looks for his Spring collection. I like to see when designers try new and bold looks. He definitely goes above and beyond with his designs, making them extremely exotic. At one end of his display window there are madcap, slightly infantile flat-forms with pompoms, beading, and metallic frills. On the other end he has a super-sleek pair of pointy black suede ankle-strap pumps.

He stated that he never really did a pointy toe.“I just wanted to do something more feminine,” said Kirkwood. His shoes now have bright colors and floral motifs that show the lady-fied direction for the upcoming season. Kirkwood’s idea of feminine entails flowers and platform pumps covered in neon lace and a digital printed satin, sandals with pen-and-ink rose scribble, and  strappy sandals with one faille rose.

His collection is definitely unique and bold. I would look to see his shoes and maybe even buy a pair.
